Princess Vega

Vega, the first class star of The Harp, and Altair, the first class of The Eagle were able to meet only once a year.

The night of July 7th.

A beautiful celestial maiden, who was called a princess weaver ( Ori-Hime), a daughter of Lord of Heaven, lived nearby the Milky Way which shined in the night sky.
She followed the orders of the Lord of Heaven, and she worked hard every day.
The fabric she weaved was very beautiful. They shone in five different colors. They were a mysterious brocade which changed their color scheme as the seasons change.

The Lord of Heaven admired her hard work, but at the same time he worried that she was of marriageable age, but she didn't have the time to make a boyfriend. He decided to arrange the marriage of her and Altair who was a good young man and a hard worker who lived west of the Milky Way.

Their newly wed life was wonderful. Every day was party. She completely stopped making the brocade.

At the beginning, the Lord of Heaven tolerated them because they were a newly wed couple.

However it seemed like they were going to keep their new lifestyle forever.

Lord of Heaven got very upset, and told her " Have you forgotten your job? I cannot permit your misbehavior."

" Go back to the east of the Milky Way, and get back to work."

" If you work very hard, and I see you do it, I will permit you to meet with Altair once a year on the night of July 7th."

It was very cruel, but she had to follow the ruler of heaven. She said goodbye to her husband and returned to the east of the Milky Way.

Thereafter her encouragement was only to meet Altair once a year. She went back to her work. Altair also waited to see her. He worked very hard too.

Altair and Vega wait eagerly for the night of July 7.

When it rains at the night, it is impossible to cross the Milky Way. Vega and Altair stand by each side of the river, and they shed tears.

In Japan, a star festival is held on July 7th for celebration of Vega and Altair. We decorate bamboo trees with beautiful paper artwork, such as pompom and streamers in addition to our wishes. July 7th is a very brilliant and gorgeous night.

I transformed these beautiful works of art into her head dress, pompom and streamers. Her beautiful A- line dress is made with white spark chambray satain. The over gown is organdy which has aurora glitters. I imagined it as the Milky Way. The colors I used were only white and silver. White pearls and silver-lined beads for the embellishments. Only colors you can see are from the crystals which have aurora finish. She is the star, Vega, celestial maiden. I tried to make her ethereal. Crystals are Swarovski.
