Ka-Gu-Ya-Hi-Me

Daughter from the moon

Kaguya-Hime is a well known Japanese Fairy tale as a  " Bamboo Princess"

Long time ago, an old man and a woman lived in a small town. He was a bamboo cutter.

One day, when he went to a bamboo thicket as usual, one of bamboo was glistening. He wondered, and cut it. A tiny baby girl was inside there. He carried her to home.  Since they weren't blessed with  child, they were very happy, so kept her. She was named " Kaguya-hime" because she was from bamboo.

Kaguya-hime grew up fast. Her hair was longer than her stature. She became a beautiful girl. She always stayed inside the house, so people visited their house to see her, but she  didn't come out from the  house. Kaguya-hime's rumor spread through country. More people came to their house, so the bamboo cutter's craftwork were sold very well. Since many noblemen wanted her as their bride, the old man suggested her, " You should marry one of them."

Kaguya-hime decided to meet three men, and told them.

" If anyone bring me the treasure, I will marry with the person."

The treasures were not able to buy with money. They had to go somewhere to  find. All of her request were hard, so nobody could bring them to her.

One day, She looked sad. The old man asked her what happened to her. She said," Next full moon, I have to go back to the moon. I am a daughter of the moon."  The old man and woman cried.

The full moon night came. They closed all the doors, and concealed her. A beam came down from the moon. Inside the house became bright. The man and woman were clutching her Kimono. However Kaguya-hime began to float. She went to the moon.
